Sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.
If I were to offer any advice on this piece it would be to practice blending (which is boring I know, but it can really elevate a picture). When applying highlights, use your finger to rub the paint in, and then do the same with the darker colour over it. You can achieve some extremely interesting layering and lighting when doing this.
If you want, try scrubbing in a darker colour over the highlighted lapel on the left hand side as you see it. Also do the same for the highlight on the bottom of his pants. I always keep a sense of where the light is coming from in a reference picture...one half will be light and more detailed, the other half will be darker and quicker to paint

Thanks a million for the critique! I'll have to go back and touch him up a little. I need to practice but maybe someday I'll be almost as amazing as you. I have another question... How did you get Rorschach's stubble to look so real? I just did the Comedian's stubble and something looks off about it but I can't place my finger on it. I used a fine brush and painted it on top of his already shaded chin but I dunno. It looks really odd...

You're far too kind. Well, I'm 32 now and I've been painting everyday for years and there is always something to improve on.
Ahh, the horror that is stubble! What I did was paint small hairs on with a very small brush...I never use just pure black as it would stand out a mile. Some hairs are dark brown, some medium brown, some yellow ochre and the highlighted ones are soft white. The hairs are painted sporadically, as in just patches and a lot of the time, I rubbed my finger gently over them to smudge 'em up a bit, so they weren't too 'there', if you know what I mean. If they stand out too much, just use some mixed up flesh colour paint, water it down a touch and run the brush over them.
